Comment Guard (AI Ad Spend and Brand Protection)
Comment Guard (/comment-guard) is AutoDM's AI-powered comment moderation and brand protection utility built to safeguard paid ad campaigns and organic posts from link hijacking, slander, competitor poaching, and toxic spam.
1. Why Comment Guard is Essential for Ads
When running paid ads on Instagram and Facebook, negative or competitive comments directly destroy campaign return on ad spend (ROAS):
- Competitor Link Hijacking: Competing brands post links in your comments offering cheaper alternatives, stealing the traffic you paid for.
- Scam Slander and Fake Reviews: False accusations (e.g., "Scam company, never received item") undermine cold buyer trust and crater checkout conversion rates.
- Price Cynicism / Drop-shipping Callouts: Comments claiming products can be found cheaper on wholesale sites reduce impulse purchase rates.
- Customer Support Rants: Public complaints that can be resolved privately in customer service DMs rather than distracting new ad prospects.
Comment Guard automatically analyzes incoming comments using AI safety classification models and hides violating remarks instantly through the official Meta Graph API.
Meta Comment Hiding: When a comment is hidden via Meta's API, it remains visible to the person who wrote it and their friends, preventing them from realizing they were moderated and retaliating. It becomes completely invisible to the general public and all other prospective buyers browsing your ad.
2. Choosing Posts and Reels to Protect
Comment Guard operates on selected media items rather than applying blindly across your entire profile:
- Click Choose Reel (or Choose Post on Facebook).
- The visual Media Picker modal opens with your published posts and reels.
- Select the reel or ad creative you want to protect.
- Plan Quotas:
- Free Forever Plan: Protect up to 1 active post or reel.
- Creator Pro Plan: Protect multiple active posts and ad creatives simultaneously.
- You can remove a protected item anytime to free up a slot for a new campaign.
3. Configuring Moderation Rules
Moderation Categories
Toggle the specific categories of comments you want Comment Guard to automatically hide:
- Toxic / Insults: Hostile remarks, personal attacks, and profanity.
- Spam & External Links: Unsolicited advertisements, affiliate links, and repetitive promotional spam.
- Hate Speech: Discriminatory comments targeting specific groups.
- Threats: Violent threats or harassment.
- Sexual Content: Inappropriate explicit content or bot promotions.
Custom Keyword Blacklist
In addition to automated category detection, you can define an exact blacklist of forbidden words using the Custom Keywords input:
- Add competitor brand names (e.g.,
@competingbrand,aliexpress,temu). - Add slander phrases (e.g.,
scam, fake tracking, ripoff, chargeback). - Press Enter or type a comma to save each keyword bubble.
- Any comment containing a blacklisted keyword will be automatically hidden immediately, regardless of confidence scores.
Confidence Threshold Sensitivity
Adjust the sensitivity slider between 0.50 and 0.99 (default is 0.85):
- Higher Threshold (e.g., 0.90 to 0.95): Conservative moderation. Only hides comments that are blatant violations, minimizing any risk of hiding legitimate feedback.
- Lower Threshold (e.g., 0.70 to 0.80): Aggressive moderation. Hides borderline cynicism and sarcastic remarks to protect high-budget ad campaigns.
4. Testing Comments in the Sandbox
Before activating Comment Guard on live campaigns, use the built-in Test Scenario Sandbox:
- Select one of the pre-loaded real-world ad scenarios:

- Rule Reason: Why the rule was triggered
- Action:

/comment-guard/activity). - Review the chronological log:
