Getting Started and Channel Setup

AutoDM connects directly with your official Meta accounts to deliver automated replies, comment moderation, and audience growth tools.

1. Global Platform Switcher​

AutoDM organizes your workspaces by platform. In the top navigation bar, you will find the Global Platform Switcher:

  • Instagram: Automate Instagram Reels, Feed Posts, Stories, Mentions, and Direct Messages.
  • Facebook: Automate Facebook Page posts and Messenger private replies.

When you switch platforms, the entire dashboard updates automatically:

  • Navigation links change to match the active channel (e.g., /instagram/automations or /facebook/automations).
  • Channel-specific features such as Product Carousels and Story Replies appear exclusively under Instagram, while Facebook-specific page options appear under Facebook.
  • Your automations, templates, short links, and fan points stay neatly organized per platform.

Global Platform Switcher: AutoDM uses a single global platform switcher in the top navigation bar to maintain a clean, consistent workspace. Switching platforms updates your navigation and dashboard context across the entire application without separate page-level toggles.

2. Connecting Your Accounts​

Connecting Instagram​

To automate Instagram comments and DMs, Meta requires an Instagram Professional Account (either a Creator or Business account) that is linked to a Facebook Page.

  1. Navigate to Instagram in the navigation menu (or click the platform switcher and select Instagram).
  2. Click Connect Instagram.
  3. You will be redirected to the secure Meta OAuth authorization dialog.
  4. Log into your Facebook account that manages your Instagram page.
  5. Select the Instagram Professional account(s) you wish to manage.
  6. Grant the necessary permissions:
    • Access messages and comments
    • Manage comments on your posts and reels
    • Send private messages to users who interact with your content
  7. Once redirected back to AutoDM, your connected username and profile picture will appear with an active status badge.

Connecting Facebook Pages​

  1. Navigate to Facebook Page in the navigation menu.
  2. Click Connect Facebook Page.
  3. Authorize via Meta and select the Facebook Page(s) you manage.
  4. Grant the requested Page Messenger and Post moderation permissions.
  5. Once complete, your Facebook Page name and profile picture will display on the dashboard.

Professional Account Requirement: If your Instagram account is still set as a Personal profile, switch to a Creator or Business profile in the mobile Instagram app under Settings > Account Type and Tools > Switch to Professional Account. Meta Graph APIs require a Professional account to deliver webhook events and dispatch automated responses.

4. Interface Navigation​

AutoDM features a persistent, responsive navigation system:

  • Dashboard (/dashboard): Real-time metrics, active trigger stats, and high-level campaign summaries.
  • Inbound DM (/inbound-dm): Dedicated auto-responder for general inbox messages.
  • Automations (/automations): Rules for comment-to-DM, story replies, mentions, and keyword workflows.
  • Templates (/templates): Reusable text messages, product carousels, comment replies, and scheduled media.
  • Fan Mode (/fan-mode): Points, leaderboard ranks, streak tracking, and milestone unlock rewards.
  • Comment Guard (/comment-guard): Ad spend protection and automated comment moderation.
  • Short Links (/links): Branded /l/:slug tracking links with UTM parameters and QR codes.
  • Activity / Leads (/leads): Detailed event logs of delivered DMs, comments, and interactions.
  • Settings (/settings): Account profile, password updates, and connected credentials.
  • Billing (/billing): Plan tiers, limits, and subscription management.

On mobile devices, AutoDM provides a native bottom navigation bar with a dedicated "More" drawer for rapid access.

5. Themes (Light and Dark Mode)​

AutoDM includes built-in support for both Light and Dark themes:

  • Click the Sun / Moon toggle icon in the sidebar or mobile header to switch instantly.
  • Your theme selection is automatically remembered across your browsing sessions.
